About Melissa
Melissa McLeod was born in Newport Beach, California in 1954 and began coloring soon afterwards. Educated at San Francisco State School of Art, and having painted in the diverse communities of the Bay Area, Juneau, Alaska and now Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Melissa McLeod pioneered the Sophisticated Naive art genre in the United States. Three decades later, she continues to lead this movement and has her works in private collections throughout the country. In 1998, she reproduced her art on a very popular series of 150 "Cottage Plaques" which sold in gift stores around the country. She has also published a 5x7 easel calendar and note cards. It is Melissa's hope that this new line of giclée paintings will allow more people to purchase and enjoy her artwork.
We invite you to peruse this web site and purchase one of her original oil paintings from her current collection, or order a reproduction on canvas using the state of the art giclée method with archival inks.
